CRYPTO CURRENCY EXCHANGES
What is a crypto currency exchange?
Crypto currency exchanges are online platforms where you can exchange one crypto currency for another crypto currency (or for fiat currency). In other words, depending on the exchange, it is either like a stock exchange or a currency exchange.
These are the following types of exchanges:
Traditional Crypto currency Exchanges: These are the exchanges that are like the traditional stock exchanges where buyers and sellers trade based on the current market price of crypto currencies with the exchange playing the middle-man taking a fee from each transaction. Some of these exchange types also use fiat currency.
Direct Trading Exchanges: These exchanges offer direct peer-to-peer trading between buyers and sellers. Direct trading exchanges don’t use a fixed market price. Sellers set their own exchange rate.
Crypto currency Brokers: These are website based exchanges that are like the currency exchange at an airport. They allow customers to buy and sell crypto currencies at a price set by the broker (generally at the market price plus a small premium). Binance is an example of this type of exchange.
Some of these exchanges are reliable whereas some are not so much.
There have been numerous cases where certain exchanges have been compromised, being Mt Gox, Bitstamp and others.
Binance has also been hacked but they have a fail safe program that repays the funds lost to users. Can highly recommend this exchange if you want to leave funds on there.
WARNING! Do not use this scam exchange unless you like losing your money. Highly recommend using anyone else but this exchange.
